Just like the Eastern Cape’s rugged mountains and open plains, The Somerset boasts a balance between simplicity and sturdiness. The elastic loops guide each cartridge, ensuring that it fits securely at the bottom of your pouch. Because of its strong and robust nature it will serve you well for many years, some products even lasting several generations.

Our products are made exclusively from top grain vegetable tanned leather that we pair with solid brass fittings and cotton canvas webbing. The best quality raw materials is the only place to start if you want to produce top quality products.

After dyeing and wet moulding the leather to shape, each stitching hole is first drilled with a small handheld drill and then every single stitch is made by hand using wax coated cotton thread. The process is tedious and takes many hours on most products, but the quality of the outcome can not be surpassed. What we’re doing at Els & Co. is the epitome of truly hand made.
